SAGE Research – Terms of Service

Thank you for participating in the SAGE (Supporting Active Growth and Engagement) research program conducted by the Exercise, Technology & Cognition Laboratory at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

This application is used solely for academic research to explore relationships among physical activity, identity, meaning, and well-being in adults aged 65 and older. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent disease.

1. Eligibility

Use of this application is limited to consented study participants or authorized research staff.

2. Your Data

By authorizing Fitbit data sharing, you permit the research team to collect activity, heart‑rate, sleep, and related metrics through the Fitbit Web API. Data are stored securely in university‑managed systems and analyzed in de‑identified form.

3. Voluntary Participation

Participation is voluntary and may be withdrawn at any time without penalty. Revoking Fitbit access will stop all further data collection.

4. Intellectual Property

All study software, methods, and findings remain property of the University of Illinois Urbana‑Champaign and its investigators.

5. Disclaimer

This application and related analyses are provided “as is” for research use only. No warranty is expressed or implied.
