SAGE Research – Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

With your consent, the app retrieves Fitbit data such as:

• Daily steps and Active Zone Minutes
• Heart‑rate summaries
• Sleep duration and stages
• Battery status and sync timestamps
• Basic profile identifiers (Fitbit user ID only)

We do not collect GPS location, messages, or contact information.

2. How We Use Data

Data are used exclusively for research analyses to study physical‑activity patterns, identity development, and healthy aging. Aggregated results may be published in academic outlets; no personally identifiable information will be published.

3. Storage & Security

Data are stored on encrypted, access‑controlled university servers. Only authorized personnel approved by the institutional review board (IRB) may access them.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

No data are shared with commercial entities. De‑identified datasets may be shared with other researchers under formal data‑use agreements and IRB oversight.

5. Retention & Deletion

Data are retained for research replication and regulatory compliance for up to 10 years, then permanently deleted or anonymized.

6. Your Rights

You may request to review or delete your data at any time by contacting the research team or by revoking Fitbit authorization in your Fitbit account settings.
